Some members of LKLUG (Lanka Linux User Group) including Anuradha, Danishka, Suchetha, Chamith were also present. A large audience of students and teachers from schools were there.
Mr. Bandula, the organizer and a teacher of Sri Sumangalodaya College, Kalahe commenced the event. Anuradha talked about what is FOSS and how it benefits us. Suchetha, about the opportunities in FOSS field. Chamith illustrated various FOSS applications which can replace proprietary softwares even in Windows. Danishka made the audience aware about sinhala unicode, firefox and sinhala translation process and its current progress.
Rev. Meththavihari also joined the event after the lunch break. Next item was a demonstration of a installation of Ubuntu Hardy. Though it took some time in the case of saving Windows (it was a dual boot) there was a lot to learn. During the installation Suchetha kept the event alive with his magnificent way of presenting. Finally experienced some interesting scripts by Anuradha followed by a Q & A session.
So the event was a success. I thank all members of LKLUG and the organizers of the event to let us have this experience and hope that there will be more in future.........
